The Dark Side is real, and rising. 2016 has been a year of intense global flux.
And now in some form of mass insanity America has opted for a businessman with no political savvy and no experience as their next president?!
We now see racial hate and hate crime given a broader platform to rise.
I’m genuinely worried for us all.
I’m British and the Conservative Government of my country are eroding civil liberties as fast as they can over here. We live in dark times my friends and I fear they will get darker still….

I feel that as an open society where the lives of the masses as well as the machinations of the corporate and political entities that influence our world are easily accessible, our perceptions have become distorted. At least in my own humble opinion.
Whilst I cannot disagree that we have seen quite the upheaval in the year 2016, I refuse to believe that it is or will be as bad as the click baiting, doomsayers would have us believe.
As of this very year we still have running water, access to medical care, plentiful food options, roofs over most of our heads, the economies of many countries are strong, jobless levels are not that bad and major disease is rare in the developed world. I compare all of the above to a mere century ago in human history and am thankful to have been born in such a technologically and culturally abundant era.
I appreciate reading the perspectives of others. There is no right or wrong, just varying perceptions.

Indeed Sir. I am personally having somewhat of a mare of 2016, having lost a 17 year career and been so far unable to find that day job whilst pursuing my writing.
You are of course most correct in what you say. It ain’t as bad as all that. Then again, in darkgingerbread land – things always seem grimmer than they are 😉
